Why Menai

Appointments that fit around your week

Our Menai clinic is open Monday to Thursday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, and on Saturdays from 8:00am to 12:00pm. That suits families who work during the day, and partners who want to be there for the scan.

Same-day appointments are sometimes available, subject to availability, so it’s worth calling ahead. Everything happens in one place: keepsake scans, and diagnostic imaging with a referral.

For most families in the Shire, Menai is a short trip. From Bangor or Barden Ridge it’s just a few minutes, and even from Cronulla it’s under 13 kilometres in a straight line. If you’re booking a 3D or 4D scan, we recommend coming at 25 to 29 weeks for the best results. Reassurance scans are available from 6 weeks.

See the Menai clinic page for the address, map and hours. If you live closer to Campbelltown, our Macarthur Square clinic offers keepsake scans on Saturdays.

Common questions

What Shire families ask us

Do I need a referral?

Not for keepsake scans. You can book those directly. Medical imaging needs a referral from your GP or specialist.

Is it covered by Medicare?

Keepsake scans aren’t medical scans, so Medicare and private health don’t apply. Diagnostic scans with a valid referral are bulk billed for Medicare-eligible patients.

Is ultrasound safe?

3D and 4D scans use the same type and intensity of ultrasound as a standard 2D scan. Read more in our FAQ.
