Before your scan
Getting the most from your visit
Keepsake scans
- Wear a comfortable, loose two-piece outfit so we can easily reach your bump.
- A sugary drink and a chocolate bar about 20 minutes before your appointment can help your baby move.
- For 3D and 4D, we recommend 25 to 29 weeks for the best results. For twins, aim for 22 to 26 weeks.
Medical imaging
- Bring your referral from your GP or specialist. A valid referral is required for every diagnostic scan.
- Your report is sent directly to your referring doctor, who will talk you through the results.
- Some scans need preparation, such as a full bladder for a pelvic scan. The service pages explain what each scan needs.
